This is a really nice café. The cinnamon croissants were so good! The place is a bit small and dark. I wish it had lighter paint to brighten it up. The staff was so welcoming and nice.

Last month, the coffee was great. Last week, the coffee (espresso) was average at best with no crema. The cake I ordered never turned up, so had to have a refund. My friend early gray was fine. It's a shame as I'm not sure I'll go again

The only reason for giving three stars is because of how unreasonably they charge £6 for an affogato and all it was a simple wee little cup with a scoop of gelato. I mean for the price i paid i was expecting atleast a good portion. Apart from that exceptional quality of espresso and gelato and the service and atmosphere were genuinely lovely. The only thing that bothered me was the price. I mean come on 6 quids for that, thats unfair.

The only reason I’m giving three stars is because of how unreasonably they charge £6.5 for a filter coffee — and on top of that, the portion was very small! The main issue for me was the price.

Arguably the best coffee in Nottingham! Great pastries too! So glad to see such a refreshing coffee shop which is well decorated with chic and warm interiors. Would absolutely recommend to anyone, whether visiting or lives locally, who’s looking for coffee that stands out from the rest of the tired and boring coffee shops around! We had a Pistachio Pain Suisse to share, which was delicious, and I had a White Lotus latte which was so amazingly refreshing! Would absolutely go back again without a doubt!

I popped in for a nice drink and a sweet treat and was very happy I chose Effy. What appears to be a high brow coffee shop lacks the poncy atmosphere whilst maintaining the knowledge and standard of service. The prices were super reasonable and the presentation was gorgeous. I marked it down a bit because the brown butter cookie had far too much flaky sea salt on top but that was easily remedy with a quick shake off. The hot chocolate was rich without being sickly and you could tell it was made with real chocolate instead of powder. The two men serving everyone were super friendly and seemed to know a lot of people in the area. All in all I'm really glad I stopped in and will definitely be back.

This charming spot has captured the hearts of locals and visitors alike with its inviting atmosphere and delectable offerings. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by a warm vibe and friendly staff, making it an ideal place to relax or catch up with friends.

Effy shines particularly bright with its coffee selections. Customers rave about the exceptional quality of their brews, ensuring a delightful start to your day or a perfect afternoon pick-me-up. The dark chocolate almond croissant has received acclaim for its rich flavor and flaky texture, making it a must-try for pastry enthusiasts. Additionally, the cinnamon croissants have left a lasting impression, with one reviewer describing them as “so good” — a testament to the café's dedication to quality.

While the ambiance boasts a cozy feel, some patrons have noted that the space can be a bit dark and small, wishing for a lighter paint to brighten the interior. However, the pleasant outdoor seating offers a lovely alternative for those who prefer to enjoy their coffee al fresco.

One aspect that did draw some mixed reviews was the pricing of certain dishes, such as the £6 affogato, which prompted discussion about portion sizes. Nonetheless, the consensus remains that the espresso and gelato served are of superb quality. Many agree that while prices may be on the higher end, the experience and taste often justify the cost.
